The Mummy Reviews

mummies are boring

imhotep is so silly… the way him and helen look at each other makes me so crazy, and she is so beautiful

Don’t get me wrong I love Egyptian culture and ancient Egypt especially, however this movie just felt too dated for me. Honestly thought the mummy was gonna stay a mummy lol, Imhotep was eh for me. The colonialism and westernization also is just icky..

Another weird romance plot, starting to see a pattern

didn’t hate it! i think frank was kinda lame but imotep and helen are pretty rad

I didnt rlly like it, it didnt feel like a mummy. Felt like a random guy who knew Egyptian stuff

Kind of wishing the modern versions had this story pacing

i mean is the egyptian representation great? absolutely not. is all the acting great? no. do i think the mummy and helen should’ve ended up together in the end? absolutely

I really like watching such an old movie

Boris Karloff is even scarier than in Frankenstein

i’m sure this movie was good for it’s time, but watching this now just seems to be a mockery of Egyptian culture and history
also the archeologist fell in love like in 10 minutes :/
Boris Karloff was rolling in the dough dude

The storyline was great, but I felt the scenes were drawn out. However, since it's an older movie, I was expecting that.

Another Universal monster classic. Boris Karloff is great as Imhotep. A must watch

I love the 1930s cheese

Karloff owned the golden age monster genre. An epic story told in under 90min. Grand in scale of set/costumes, though doesn’t have the punch of story like Frankenstein does. Beautiful and haunting. Universal Monsters are ageless.

Solid Universal Monsters feature if one of the weaker of the main ones. Similar themes and tone approached here as in other UM films but you can’t complain because it works. It could’ve done with more ‘Mummy’ however

Boris Karloff will always be a star! Still better than at least half of the adaptations coming out to this day

⭐️⭐️

Still better visual effects than the 1999 version
