imhotep is so silly… the way him and helen look at each other makes me so crazy, and she is so beautiful

i mean is the egyptian representation great? absolutely not. is all the acting great? no. do i think the mummy and helen should’ve ended up together in the end? absolutely

Boris Karloff is even scarier than in Frankenstein

i’m sure this movie was good for it’s time, but watching this now just seems to be a mockery of Egyptian culture and history
also the archeologist fell in love like in 10 minutes :/

The storyline was great, but I felt the scenes were drawn out. However, since it's an older movie, I was expecting that.

Another Universal monster classic. Boris Karloff is great as Imhotep. A must watch

I love the 1930s cheese

Karloff owned the golden age monster genre. An epic story told in under 90min. Grand in scale of set/costumes, though doesn’t have the punch of story like Frankenstein does. Beautiful and haunting. Universal Monsters are ageless.

Solid Universal Monsters feature if one of the weaker of the main ones. Similar themes and tone approached here as in other UM films but you can’t complain because it works. It could’ve done with more ‘Mummy’ however

Boris Karloff will always be a star! Still better than at least half of the adaptations coming out to this day

honestly was an alright watch, the acting made me laugh on several occasions but that's how it was in the 30's

8.2/10 Karloff’s portrayal as Imhotep is a well crafted performance within a atmosphere that is true to the horror genre. To see the persona that is creepy, threatening and mysterious and use that in a way to portray the stories dark nature is brilliantly a gift to the audience

see, none of this would’ve happened if the british didn’t try and take what isn’t theirs
