Weirdly meta and surprisingly funny. About 30-45 min too long but still enjoyable. Recommend going to the theater, I would’ve been bored on the couch

This movie takes the original movies and shit all over it. There are many problems both subjectively as a movie and as a fan of the original matrix’s it makes me want to vomit. If you want to watch 2 1/2 hours of a Solis cash grab this is the movie for you.2.3/10

The Matrix Resurrections
A movie that is in direct conversation with itself and what came before, and while the routes it takes to get there are sledgehammer blunt at times, the points it raises are wild. It honors the legacy, but it feels more mature and lived-in.

I have no words. Did I love seeing Neo and Trinity together? Yes. Was this movie what I thought it would be? Straight garbage.

The true climax of the series, filling plot holes, tying loose ends, while conveniently opening new ones. But it does so in a satisfying way, one that will let you move on from the matrix story, and feeling its arc has fully completed. Worth watching twice. Or thrice.

Never as good as the first but great to be having a new matrix movie to watch

The Matrix Regurgitates the original but without the flair and thought provoking story of the first three films

Explores some interesting concepts that focus on how stupid it would be to make another matrix. Well this film convinced me of that. The story felt silly and fell flat for me. On top of that didn’t like any new characters, and the action was a step down from the originals.

Not sure why this flopped in the way it did; both critically and financially. As ultimately, this feels like a perfect successor and re-quel to the original trilogy.
I think it runs a little long and dithers about in the middle too much, but there’s really nothing to actively dislike here. CGI and practical stunt work look as good as they did all the way back then. The story packs the same punch, if not even more with the legacy of these characters. Beyond that, I really enjoyed how meta it all is; I’m surprised WB actually allowed it… perfectly encapsulates modern blockbuster sequel making.
Like before, it’s Carrie-Anne Moss’s show; she’s even better here – such a terrific actress and performance here. She, and her portrayal of Trinity, really serve as the heart of these films. Keanu does good work here, not his best, but serviceable – it feels like his heart isn’t in it at times. Needed far more Jonathan Groff; he understood the assignment of the role.
I’m really looking forward to the alleged sequel that Drew Goddard is cooking up; I’m really looking forward to seeing where these new ideas lead!
