The Lost Daughter
An uncomfortably vulnerable portrait of an aged woman who struggles with motherhood, being compellingly artful despite not having a cathartic arc. Close shots reflect the anxiety & discomfort of the MC & the way she watches strangers from afar feels so natural and engaging…

The Lost Daughter
excellent movie with amazing acting. the ending kinda threw me off but it was good. nothing better than a main character that’s not all goodness and happiness.

Hard to watch because of the subject matter. This is one of those “slice of real life” movies where there is no one to root for, you’re just along for a bumpy, emotional ride. Deeply metaphorical, especially the ending.

The Lost Daughter
Maggie Gyllenhaal’s intimate directorial debut. Depicts a view of maternity not often portrayed, yet necessary to portray. Olivia Colman’s performance is grounded and magnetic. Loved seeing Dakota Johnson in her soul baring performance as well.

Meh. Too open-ended. No real plot to follow and no resolution, only speculation. That can be an intriguing way to end, but they didn’t put in the work to make it satisfying.

i originally watched this for jessie buckley but something about olivia coleman makes me so happy, like she reminds me of someone so comforting to me.
the movie itself was infuriating but understandable. an immature woman who put herself before her children.

The Lost Daughter
It starts off good. I liked how the film presents the difficulties of parenting while trying to achieve career goals, and how the parallels between Leda and Nina are shown. All the pressure that Leda feels leads to a confusing ending, which was a bit disappointing for me.

The Lost Daughter
Captivating film, it started slow but the flashbacks completed the story, the ending however was crazy pure raw existence

The common theme in The Lost Daughter is mothers who see their children as a burden. There is a constant unease and a sense of dread in the film. For me it left too much unspoken and in the end I felt left in the dark. The buildup wasn’t quite worth the reward.

6.5/10 Interesting watch. Slow-paced, gradually revealing the past through protagonist’s eyes. Powerful perspective on motherhood. It was really well-done — just not really my genre.

Everyone is a bad person in this 🤣 I didn’t really care about these characters tbh, some people shouldn’t have kids
