Watched last night. Better than the first the pace picks up a little bit. Gollum is a god damn crack feen for that ring man, guy creeps me out. Epic battle at the end, when Gandalf the white shows up I got a little bricked up ngl. Frodo Baggins still sounds like puss boi tho.

How can a director reach this level of excellence making 4 hours feel like air. Mind blowing man, so much better than the first.
I see now what the hype is all about.
Gave me a glimpse of the masterpiece GOT, god I miss it so much.

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers

I remember this being the weakest movie in the trilogy but I didn't remember it being THIS MUCH weaker than the others. There are a few gripes I have but before I get to those I want to emphasize that critiquing these movies is like critiquing Steph Curry and a poor shooting performance. He is the goat, and so is this trilogy, does not mean it is exempt from some petty critiques. Those being: first, the lack of explanation how Gandalf goes from falling down a hole in a mine to fighting the Balrog atop a mountain... that doesn't make any sense and breaks some continuity; second, some of the characters actions make no sense. The main one I am thinking about is when Frodo decides to walk up to a Ringwraith to stare it down and then try to put the ring on just for Sam to jump in and save him. Felt as though that was only added in to make it seem as though Frodo's life was in danger since the rest of the fellowship was fighting at that moment; third, I really didn't like how Faramir didn't expose Frodo for lying to him once they found Gollum and instead just said "Hey look, we're going to shoot this thing in the water..." and Frodo just sits there for like 20 seconds and then of course says to stop and asks if he can go down to him just for them to then capture Gollum as if they couldn't just do that before. Felt pointless. Aside from these gripes, the movie was still very very good and the fights were very exciting, especially the kill count competition between Legolas and Gimli. Loved the playful banter between characters and this movie made me respect Pippen and Merry just a little bit more than before. Overall still such a great film and similar to the first, has stood the test of time. It does not feel like I am watching a movie from 2002.
