This movie was badass.

AMAZING SET UP FOR A SEQUEL OMG

6.2 - decent but could have been great. Awesome set up, cool moments, well-designed & effective sets, & cool creature design. Terrible pace, uneven writing. Felt reminiscent of old school monster movies but with something significant missing.

Consistently creepy yet rarely terrifying, this flat spinoff doesn’t make any meaningful additions to the mythology of the source material. There’s a brief novelty to the bloody spectacle but this supposed final voyage feels considerably thin by its end.

The nautical horror angle is refreshing. The slow dread, practical effects, & grim tone suit the material well. The ship becomes a floating coffin, & Dracula a force of nature. What makes it unique is its commitment to inevitability. There’s no hope, only endurance.

Filled with great actors. This was a great film. Almost Iike it was setting up for another movie.
