The Last Voyage of the Demeter

This movie was badass.

6.2 - decent but could have been great. Awesome set up, cool moments, well-designed & effective sets, & cool creature design. Terrible pace, uneven writing. Felt reminiscent of old school monster movies but with something significant missing.

Consistently creepy yet rarely terrifying, this flat spinoff doesn’t make any meaningful additions to the mythology of the source material. There’s a brief novelty to the bloody spectacle but this supposed final voyage feels considerably thin by its end.

I liked this movie. My only quip is the portrayal of Dracula as an inhuman like creature departes from the story.

Beautiful cinematography, and great acting, but the writing could be a bit better. Leans more towards si-fi and action, than horror. That said, it was an enjoyable movie to watch.
