A script that tells a very beautiful true story about George VI 8/10

Had to watch this movie for a class and I ended up really liking it. The dynamic between Bertie and Lionel is super compelling. Overall a great true story that was translated into a movie flawlessly. The subtle symbolism with flying is great too.

Amazing. The messages, the production, the visuals, the portrayals, the score, the drama, the locations, the casting and the cinematography. It's all amazing filmmaking and I respect it but the rewatchabilty and enjoyability go severely downhill as the movie goes on. The acting was brilliant, but Colin's stammer is annoyingly over-exaggerated. It being a key element got to me. I love how they turned royalty into your (far prestige) neighbours but didn't love the 'soppy', almost condescending tone the script takes. I doubt the majority of this is true but at least it's heartwarming.

The King’s Speech is a crowd-friendly, uncomplicated film with a big heart. This movie is a life-affirming picture about a complex friendship and personal conviction that’s as touching as it is inspiring, and it does all this without feeling cliché or typical.

Not very compelling to me. Not sure why I should care or why it was important then.

I do not know what wrong with me but this was boring!! They broke up twice and it may be historical but se also know what happens so why are we dragging so out to 2 hours?? The actors are undeniably charismatic but they can’t redeem my 2 hours

Don’t like the monarchy but a somewhat nice film anyway

I thought the movie was very well done. I find the British monarchy fascinating and this movie portrayed a side of the royals you may not know exists.

apparently an unpopular opinion but this absolutely deserved best picture and even more than that, colin firth without a doubt deserved best actor 9/10
