I had seen the Jackie Chan version first and never really gave this one a chance but i’m glad I did

Its just as fun and has some 80’s nostalgia

I do gotta say tho Ali’s friend is annoying 😭 like shut the hell up they just always had to say something negative to him unprovoked

Also the ending is so abrupt

my bro bought this without telling anyone bcs he has a crush on Johnny Lawrence….

if i would’ve seen this when it came out, or even a lot earlier in my life, this might’ve just been among my favorite movies ever (it’s close for now - will definitely watch again). action/plot/villain/message, everything is 10/10. perfect ending. i love the 80s so much. this was just beautiful. obviously i love jayden smith as karate kid bc it was the first one i saw, and it’s a great movie in of itself, but man this original probably takes the cake. i can’t believe i hadn’t seen this until now.

8.5/10 throughout my time watching this movie for the first time. It would cause me to reminisce on my time learning tae kwon doe. A lot of Miyagi’s teachings are very similar to how I processed my teachings and how I use my knowledge today. It’s a very calming sense of deja vu

loved it so much. def gonna rewatch sometime
