Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man

A fantastic conclusion to one of my most beloved tv shows. It was a long time coming, but certainly worth the wait.

It’s always a bit scary when a tv series transitions to a motion picture. It didn’t work especially well for another favourite of mine - Idris Elba’s Luther, although it is getting a sequel so who am I to say. But like the show, it’s written by Steven Knight who not only is a fantastic writer in his own right, but also very well versed in screenplays for some really great films.

The result is a terrific, faithful to the show final chapter. It’s depressing, but the whole show is. There was never not going to be a “downer” vibe to the climax of Tommy Shelby’s story. Anyone expecting a 2hr action film will be incredibly disappointed, it would have been cool to see Shelby go full John Wick, sure. But that’s never what the show has been about - it stuck to its guns and finished as it started.

Cillian Murphy is fantastic, he has Tommy Shelby down to a tee at this point. He’s a world-class performer and what he’s accomplished here, and with the show as a whole is a truly is a triumphant feat, a character that will go down as one of the best in history, truly. Was mixed several times on Barry Keoghan in this world, but in the end I thought he ultimately worked more than not. Rebecca Ferguson will never disappoint me.

Lovely end to this narrative that I’ll remember fondly forever. That sequence of Tommy Shelby riding down the Birmingham streets on his return will never not be iconic.

Not as good as the series, but a great film nonetheless.

As an Irishman and a big Peaky Blinders fan I just had to see this film in the cinema. From the soundtrack, to the action, to the story, they did a great job with this film. It took a bit to get going, but it was great.

The film serves almost exclusively as a vehicle to provide Tommy with a proper goodbye, but the signature Peaky Blinders beats still manage to deliver a thrilling film.

Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man keeps that cold, stylish vibe alive. Tommy Shelby is still sharp and dangerous, dealing with power and consequences. Strong visuals, a bit slow at times, but still hits.

Characters r 💩, music’s 💩, action scenes mid, introductions and development 💩.

Haven’t watched the show, I shouldn’t have to. Shouldn’t have to waste 40 hours of my life on a show just so I can watch a 2 hour critically acclaimed movie. How about they just make a better movie?

Thomas Shelby, what a man, was the movie perfect, no.However with the cards they were dealt they gave Thomas Shelby his inevitable ending and made it hit long time peaky blinders fans right in the heart.Going to miss his character and the show, 100% holds a dear place in my heart

Can’t rate this one yet. Don’t know how to feel about it. Very mixed.

It was definitely rushed and is in no way as good as any part of the show. It was nice to have this movie but I kinda wish it was never made in the first place.

Arthur’s death not being as potent as it should have been is a crime. Maybe there is some sort of contract or money problem I don’t know about.

Ada dying at the hands of someone so insignificant is a shame as well. I mean we don’t even know who that guy is even after the movie.

On the bright side, it was nice seeing a lot of the Day 1s, seeing how Birmingham has changed, and seeing Tommy “get back on his horse”. The music was good and the acting was great as well. The cinematography was meh and the script itself was lackluster.

Overall, just very rushed and seemed uninspired. Not at all what I was hoping for and that might be the problem. I’ll probably choose to forget this movie ever happened because of how out of character it really was. The writing and actual story are OK but the film itself is a tough one.

7/10, personally not happy with how the story ended. Loved the show. Movie had a good cast. Just can’t say I’m a fan of the direction they went. I can buy it because it makes sense, but just don’t like it.

Okay take this review with a huge grain of salt because I haven’t even seen the show lol, so I didn’t understand or feel connected to the characters and plot as much as others. I watched it with a friend who has seen the entire show and loved it. It just wasn’t my thing, I don’t love this genre. Maybe I’ll try the show idk

In some ways, I like it for the ability to still badass-ify Tommy Shelby again and also for retaining most of the original cast. Slow start that felt like they had to spoonfeed us what we missed. I really liked Keoghans performance but it was a disappointing end for Peaky fans.

Was debating the necessity of a sequel while watching this film, but it ends in a pretty satisfying way that more than earns its keep. I need a smarter person than me to explain why that plan had to be as convoluted as it was. Watch on netflix with subtitles.
