Honestly thought this was going to be dank w how popular it is. I thought it was a little cheesy for a war depiction. If this was a 5 rating scale it’d get a 3. Feel bad for the meh but can’t say I liked it.

While most films depict war as a huge emotional and mental toll on soldiers, I found it very interesting how this film depicts war as an escape away from an everyday normal life for Jeremy Renner’s character, Will James. Will just wants to do what he does best: defusing bombs 💣

I didn't dislike it, but I expected more, especially towards the ending where they try and go find "the enemies," like the whole movie to an extent was actually pretty good, but at times it was slow, and Renner's character was pretty annoying, overall though...I guess okay movie

Over-hated because of inaccuracies

Loved the waffle purchasing grocery store scene.

I felt like I couldn’t breathe the entire film. Literally any second something could happen and you could feel it inside of you

Starting your movie with a chris hedges quote doesn’t mean shit. If you don’t unequivocally say that this invasion was an illegal act perpetrated by war criminals i don’t take you seriously. This winning best picture over inglorious basterds is hilarious.

It was good but I thought we would get more background on Jeremy Renner’s character but other than that it was a pretty decent movie 7/10

Pretty good, not a fan of the cinematography and would have liked a different ending.

Not as good as I thought it would be. The first half had me invested but the second half was a bit slower paced but played very well into the mental toll war can take on soldiers.

Mir ist es etwas schleierhaft, wie dieser Film 2010 vor Inglourious Basterds oder Avatar den Oscar für Besten Film gewinnen konnte.
Der Film hat im Prinzip keine Story. Es fühlt sich an wie eine zweistündige Doku aus dem Irak, die auch noch langweilig ist.
Hatte mehr erwartet!

8.8 - A really strong, human (at least American) look at the mental toll of war, and an understandable choice for Best Picture in its year, but it’s lacking that huge signature moment that would make it an all time war-movie, in my opinion.

It’s probably Jeremy Renner’s strongest performance. He carries all the emotion squarely on his shoulders. And the intense sound design, tense editing & screenplay (especially in the first half), & elegant cinematography all tie it together exceptionally.
