Picture: Me, age 13, absolutely losing my sh*t in the theater as “Radioactive” by Imagine Dragons plays (my ringtone at the time), the camera pans up to a starry sky, and the credits start rolling. This is where I was first introduced to Saoirse Ronan, Jake Abel, and Max Irons.

I was obsessed with the book as everyone says (I know how cliche and cringe) but the book was better just because there where scenes I wanted to see in the movie but overall I love the movie as a separate but connected thing

i did not expect much from this, and it’s not the most visually stunning film, but i was surprisingly pleased with and a bit moved by it. there’s plenty of weird things about the movie but ur interested the whole way and every time i thought it was getting a bit slow, it picked up. leaves some unanswered questions about the ‘aliens’ but they can be easily overlooked as the overwhelming storyline is more centered around humanity’s love and longing for individuality + the relentlessness to survive. i thought the acting from everyone was superb, especially saoirse ronan. she was so gentle as wanda which captivates u, pulling u between the species. but jamie??? jeb??? jared??? give all the J’s oscars. and the ending is chefs kiss. wish i knew about the book first.
“the universe will be a darker place without you…”
“…i finally found something to die for”
script hit me embarrassingly hard. rotten tomatoes laughs at me. 7/10

Not what I expected, happily surprised by the ending. Begins as an average, hide from the aliens as they chase you movie but then flips it on its ear. Nothing earth shattering but entertaining, some good emotional stuff. You won’t like it if you’re looking for explosions & fights
