Gosh, how I love sports movies! In the simplest of ways they always find a way to make me cry!

I'm a sucker for an underdog story. This feel-good tale proves hard work and God-given talent overcome elitism.

The Director’s Eye:
Bill Paxton brings dynamic energy to a sport that's tough to film. The warm lighting feels like a moving Norman Rockwell painting. Shia LaBeouf is solid, but the core is the American Dream. I loved how it proves true "gentlemen" are defined by character, not inherited wealth. Honoring your parents while pursuing a calling deeply resonated with my traditional values. The triumphant score makes quiet putts feel epic.

The Cuts:
They fudged history for Hollywood tension—Francis actually won by five strokes, not a nail-biting single stroke. Also, the early-2000s CGI golf balls look pretty dated now.

Verdict:
A wholesome sports drama championing merit and the American spirit. Highly recommended for family movie night!

Favorite Line: "If he wins, it will be solely due to his skill, not his background."

Well done! Story starts with two players on the opposite end of the ropes. A caddie (amateur golf player) and well respected English champion. We watch them closely as both of them face many challenges (most similar) and overcome the adversity. Though they are different.

Such a sweet movie

If you’re a fan of golf and true stories this was one of the good ones. Shia shined playing the underdog of golfers in the early days of hitting the greens. It’s a good time and a good watch if looking for a true story

Watched this after going to the PGA championship at Valhalla. Francis Ouimet would kick Phil Mickelson’s ass
