Considered the first Western film in history, this is a very simple story told without dialogue or intertitles. It has a few flaws, but considering how old the film is, those details largely went unnoticed at the time. Years later, Westerns would become the most popular film genre in the United States. If you’re studying film, there’s a good chance you’ll watch this movie in class.

Another early revolutionary film for its time, complete with some decent scenes. Filming was in its infancy at the time so there are some scenes that drag on too long but overall it was a fun watch.

A bit slow, but still interesting. The use of suspense, conflict, and change in prospective seems so modern. It is interesting to see the parallels between an audience over a century ago and audiences today, we love the thrill of seeing violence, crimes and death on the tv

The only question I have about this film is: What did I do to the gunman at the end?
