why the FUCK do people like this? it’s the most boring thing i have ever seen in my entire life. i’d get more enjoyment from watching paint dry.

I really don't get all the fuss about this, below average.
Lol just because it has a great symbolic ending shot doesn't make it great as a whole.
Loved the soundtrack/camera work/ending/drowning pool scenes, and the relatable themes.
But that's pretty much about it, everything-

My favorite part was when “Scarborough Fair” played—then again, then again, but the instrumental version, then again, and I think one more time after that.

A strange and interesting narrative that doesn’t feel like something made in the ’60s - it took risks that most films wouldn't have back then - so kudos there.

As sharp as the writing is, I think the vast majority of the performances are actually really bad; the three leads are great, but virtually everyone else misses in a big way. The Graduate is also surprisingly funny (especially with some of the musical cues), and there’s a few shots scattered throughout which staggered me in how damn good they looked.

Honestly, it’s probably a 4 Star film, but I got deafened 3 times more than acceptable by unnecessary, over-the-top, poorly acted screams for bad actresses - so I’m genuinely removing half a star for the gross oversight. I don’t get care how petty it sounds.
