The Golden Glove Reviews

Based on a true story about a serial killer in Hamburg, Germany. Not sure how I felt about this one though or if I’d recommend it.
The characters were interesting &, at times, it felt like a dark comedy, but some scenes were pretty visceral & felt way too true to the core.

It's a portrait not only what's a psychopath but also how he sees his victims as objects, the things he uses for his desires, in his vile way of life.

Rating - 5.8 💀

This is the 1st of the 100 horror movies in my 100 horror movie challenge and I give this movie a solid 5.8 💀. This movie is the story of German serial killer Fritz Honka. Fritz, a severe alcoholic seems harmless but has sinister sexual tendencies that he eventually acts on that sends him spiraling out of control into a dark and sinister lifestyle. This move follows Fritz as he tries to live out a normal life trying to hide his sinister acts and keep them secret to the outside world. As these acts start to pile up it becomes harder and harder to keep hidden. This movie is dark and unhinged. The acting is suspect at best and it’s in German so it’s also subtitled. It’s not hard to follow but some of the scenes are cringe and very low budgeted. The movie overall was decent and told a pretty interesting story of Fritz Holland and that’s why I would suggest if you like foreign horror and don’t mind reading subtitles, give this a watch and tell me what you think!

Great film, hard to watch at times due to it’s raw cinematography and acting, unfiltered even. Sublime set dressing and a good representation of that era of the 20th century where alcoholism and prostitution and men were never a good mix. Briljant performance by Jonas Dassler.

6/10 this was a wild film. Seeing his pov on all the kills and the alcohol abuse. Felt very real

As a german movie with german actors I’d say it’s one of the best and ugliest movies I’ve ever seen. It’s not only how or that he kills, it’s also the atmosphere. When you watch the movie you shouldn’t watch it while you’re eating. You can imagine the smell he was surrounded. ❤️it
