The first half is definitely better, and you don't realize it till she meets the other dumbass. But it does not derail because I was happy with how it ended up concluding. Plus, I'm a sucker for good atmosphere, especially by the sea.

Is the plot a little weird and should not be done again? Yes. Did I like it? Also yes.
The plot is weird, but intriguing which kept me watching it and in the end I liked the movie because the captain ghost was very funny and I liked the development of Mrs. Muir.
