UNCOMFY. Had been looking forward to checking out another Shinkai film, but all my interest was quickly extinguished when the plot became clear.

There is probably good art, or music, or whatever else in this. But I just don't really care because I couldn't get past the premise.

Even though the age gap is wild, this movie isn’t a romance in the typical sense. It is very hard to look past the age difference, but I think the point of the movie is in spite of it. I’ll say this now and always but Makoto Shinkai will always be my favorite animation director

7/10 I honestly don’t know why I’m not rating this lower as the story is just not sad or interesting at all especially because it’s between like a kid and a teacher and they make it so deep and philosophical when it’s just not that. Animation is beautiful though. Way overhyped.

i liked that it wasn’t a movie, but a short story. as usual, i loved makoto’s directing and animation. but what was that about a 27 year old being interested in a 15 year old KID. i could understand takao falling for her bc of his (i think) mommy issues, but what’s her excuse?

Very short film with stunning visuals but the story itself was kinda meh.

It was nothing amazing in terms of story and plot. And definitely not a creative storyline, also didn’t love the age gap.

But the animation made up for the lacking character the movie had. You can tell they spent a lot of time on the backgrounds and animation.

Overall, 6/10

First off, the anime is good but there's nothing unique about it. Second, I didn't feel connected to any of the characters maybe because of the short run time. Regardless I still like it due to to it's beautiful art, I feel like it carried the movie.

Had this on my list for ages. I wish I could’ve saved my reaction when I understood the plot like 20mins in. I meannnn 15yo x 27yo student-teacher relationship was NOT what I was expecting all these years of wanting to watch it LMAOOO. Other than that the animation was beautiful.

This is all time masterpiece. My love for Japanese mundane life is everything.
