this movie explores the mind of a child, who even though is portrayed by a young actress, still brings to life the whimsical world she is experiencing. the thought-provoking story, heart wrenching acting, and beautifully vibrant cinematography makes you feel like a kid again.

The ending was so bad and the kids at the beginning made me mad ngl

This was SUCH a good movie right up until the ending sequence. It had so much potential for a better ending

Wouldn’t have watched this if someone didn’t show it to me, but it feels so real it’s so interesting to watch the children and their lifestyle. Makes you think a lot about a side of society some of us don’t see.

Another A24 movie that I found amazing. The casting was quite good, willem dafoe, the mum and her daughter were all amazing. Especially the daughter, she was so good for a child actor, she managed to capture that childhood feeling so naturally. It was a really wholesome, funny ..

This movie is so light hearted and sad it really did make me sob. It’s one of my favorites because it’s so real and raw. Definitely don’t watch if you wanna happy movie. Beautiful directing and casting💗

it feels deep because it shows a harsh reality through a childs playful perspective moonees world looks bright and carefree but you can sense the instability behind it, it doesnt explain everything or judge its characters which makes it feel very real
reminds me of my childhood

9.5 - No discredit to Anora, but this is Sean Baker’s masterpiece.

The blend of emotions as these kids run around & cause (mostly minor) trouble, & just live, while the adults in charge of them struggle & fight every day is incredible writing. The number of “ahhh” moments - from some of the meals, the tree scene, the magic bands sale, the guy coming back for the bands, & the gut-wrenching conclusion absolutely blew me away. I felt like knew early on what (depressing) direction this was hurtling but I was still surprised right & left along the way.

I spent my college years not far from this area, spending quite a few weekends around Orlando & so this all felt sadly familiar, but of course it was also absolutely a privilege check that I never even thought about people struggling in these ways as I interacted with wholesale street resellers, drove by apparently seedy motels, or saw groups of kids just wandering up & down the roads in the summer.

The closing scenes also hit especially hard as a current foster parent. I’ve met kids & families in similar circumstances. These situations are never easy & are often terribly depressing & stressful. And sometimes just knowing that the parent is trying their best is all you need to know. I respect Baker’s writing here & Bria Vinaite’s portrayal of Halley taking any black & white out of what it’s like to raise a kid in these situations.

Lastly, Brooklyn Prince instantly rockets up my list of all time child performances. So many of her singular deliveries were responsible for so many of the emotional beats & revelations in this story. Absolutely powerful. And she held her own against one of my now favorite Willem Dafoe performances - an incredibly gentle & real performance; one that you don’t see out of him typically.

It’s striking & heavy, & will absolutely hang with me for a few days, which is about the best compliment I can give a movie.

Descubrí a sean baker x anora . Tarde pero seguro. Te tiene q gustar el estilo y entrar. A mi particularmente me gusta, la manera de contar que tiene el cómo dirige y edita. Las actuaciones me gustaron mucho, muy naturales y cotidianas , sobre todo los niños mooney en principal👏🏽

its beautiful and very accurate film. it really shows off the mentality kids can have, and i think the vibrant colors showed off what you see as a kid

There was zero plot aside from bad moms raising bad kids, and I had no idea what was even happening more than half of the time. It felt like information was left out so scenes left me confused? The ending was horrible too, and the camera quality bobbing up and down made me nauseous. 3/10
