The Favourite

8.3 - Not my favo(u)rite Lanthimos work but still a wildly good time. It’s maybe his most accessible I’ve seen, but still has his unique flourishes all over, especially in how it was shot. Phenomenal acting from all 3 leads, plus top notch prod design, costumes, & screenplay.

The script is out of this world, like a tarantino movie set in the 1700’s. The camera work is crazy in the best way possible. And then add to that immaculate acting. It’s simply a masterpiece.

The most interesting proposal of The Favourite is the change of socially imposed roles regarding gender, here these canonical mandates are transgressed and inverted. While the men flirt and use makeup, the women have the real power.

9/10 Loved it!! So good in so many ways!

Increasingly beautiful, detailed with so much attention to the small things over and over again, I cannot stress this enough but the level of acting displayed here is one of the best of all time. No doubt whatsoever in my mind that this Yorgos Lanthimos best work to date!!

i don't know if there is really a plot it's kind of all of over the place, but really like the costumes and the music was kinda of annoying in some parts, also the ending was WEIRD like what is going on?!🤨🤨
