The Dreamers

an interesting cinephile character study with shocking implications towards the dynamic of french twins. great music and references with bold nudity and overall performances, i would advise viewer discretion and very open minds

The Dreamers is a bold, kinda wild movie that’s more about freedom, youth, and obsession than a normal story. It follows this American guy who gets caught up with a French brother and sister during the Paris protests, and things get… intense real quick.

The Dreamers

What a wild ride, wasn’t expecting it to lean so far into incest… but there you go - definitely watch alone.

Despite all its crudity, The Dreamers is a beautiful film; how it’s shot, the music, the actors. Even if for the wrong reasons, it’s incredibly romantic and sensual in a way which I haven’t quite seen before. Was half expecting it to be gayer, although apparently those elements from the book were deemed “too far” I suppose they draw the line at incest…

All three were fantastic, what a debut performance from Eva Green. Very raw, literally, but emotionally also - it was an incredibly bold risk for her to take and I respect her immensely for it.

Not sure if I’d revisit, but I enjoyed my time with it, surprisingly considering what it does for the majority of the runtime.
