The Dreadful

The cast and genre gave me such hope, but the ending left me 'dreadfully' disappointed. The acting all around was brilliant, although watching Sophie Turner and Kit Harington do things felt Cersei Lannister levels of wrong. The visuals, costuming, score, and locations all look and sound great but suffer from a weak script. I love medieval/gothic horror/romance, and this scratched the itch just enough. That said, the gripping buildup was let loose by the out-of-place and ineffectual conclusion.

Gothic atmosphere and cinematography was the highlight. Great performances from the two leads. What started as an interesting, sinister descent into paranoia, codependency, and desperation was destroyed by an obvious twist and messy supernatural angle that cheapened the impact.

I was really hoping for something good from this movie, especially with everyone in it. However, it just kind of drags and not a ton happens and you are left wondering what?!
