This script had to be written by AI. So many stupid decisions and convenient moments to move the blog along. The payoff was unsatisfying.

omg also that panic attack scene was one of the most authentic on screen panic attacks i’ve ever seen, it almost gave me one LOL 😭

Ooof. I did not enjoy this. The writing was so cringey. It felt like they were trying to speak the tag line to the movie. Also I hate the magic object that solves every problem the movie throws at it. Like you need to turn invisible, magic item does it. Need to read people’s minds, this does it too. Also need it to power up an entire news station, this does it too. Ugh so frustrating that this could have been great.

I’ll be honest, idk about this one, I really really loved the concept of religion, it wasn’t really followed through, and I really wanted the film to also explore the current state of the world.

Yet again, I’m not really a Spielberg guy, he’s really big on creating worlds, idk if he’s my guy for the stories created in those worlds.

This said, I did enjoy it, I think the whole sneaking scene was wonderful (camera movements) and also the train scene, really fun.

Maybe I’m just looking for something else, that’s on me.

Complete nothing burger movie.. literally just another movie about running from the cops, barely get to see aliens or at least anything having to do with them.

But with that being said, can’t deny Emily Blunts performance, she’s always great.. just sucks it was a crappy movie

Went into this cautiously optimistic after the trailer didn’t wow me and it just felt like a big nothing-burger. Sure the ending is fun (albeit expected) but in the 2 hrs leading up to it it feels like almost nothing happens to drive the plot, the characters also get shortchanged

It felt like watching Arrival in some moments

9/10 Magical/Emotional ending which you kinda come to except when watching a Spielberg film. Well coved line “On Earth god created humanity” which opens up the rest of the Universe (not just earth), nice. This film seats side by side with “Close Encounters” and “E.T”. Recommended

Movies are BACK, baby. This is a species of old school summer blockbuster long thought extinct (reference to 1993’s “Jurassic Park”). Is it perfect? No. Is it unintentionally hilarious at points? Yes. Is it incredible, edge of your seat viewing? Yes. What a summer for CINEMA

My unbiased side says this is inconsistent in terms of the alien artifacts, the organizations and how believable the characters are. The principal factor is the jarring beginning as it’s in the 3/8 part of the story with no real introduction. However, Emily Blunt outperformed 🔝

Feels like something I'd seen a million more times, it all comes down to the brilliant way Steven Spielberg carried the pacing giving us a sense of never ending mystery. Emily Blunt really managed to deliver once again what I always knew she could.

8.0 - This was far from Spielberg’s best alien feature but it felt like the right place & the right way to close the storyline. It’s also nice to see a “blockbuster” that can still allow its audience room to think a little.

I felt like I was watching old school Spielberg. A little adventure, a little humor, a hopeful conclusion. It didn’t have many of the big action home run moments most people seemed to hope for, but it felt in every way like a true spiritual successor to Close Encounters & E.T.

The individual performances are the stand-out, especially Emily Blunt & Colman Domingo, who dominated their screen time and kept the emotions rolling for me.

My biggest gripe is as a KC local, nothing about the majority of the KC sets looked remotely like KC, but that’s a more personal issue.

I don’t necessarily think it’s set to be an all time classic like many of Spielberg’s other works, but I do think as more people view it, & as more discussions arise from it, it will gain more traction & fandom.

I ate this shit up. Loved this movie, Emily Blunt STOLE the show her acting was phenomenal. The reporter at the end also brought so much emotion I almost wanted to cry my damn self. I really liked the footage they showed and the reveal at the end. Hopefully happens in real life.
