The Disappointments Room
It was good. The pacing held up, visuals were sharp, and the performances felt authentic. Some scenes dragged, but overall, it left a strong impression.

The Disappointments Room
I was disappointed by the film's inability to deliver a compelling horror story, despite its intriguing premise. Directed by D. J. Caruso and starring Kate Beckinsale and Mel Raido, this psychological horror film follows a couple who discovers a hidden room in their new house with a dark, haunted past.
Rating
2.7/10
I gave this film a low rating due to its predictable plot, poorly developed characters, and lackluster filmmaking.
The Good
• Narrative & Story (Strengths): The film's premise is intriguing, and the idea of a haunted room with a dark past has potential for a compelling horror story.
• Characters (Strengths): Kate Beckinsale delivers a decent performance, but her character is poorly developed and lacks depth.
The Not So Good
• Narrative & Story (Weaknesses): The plot is predictable, and the pacing is slow. The story lacks originality and relies on horror cliches.
• Characters (Weaknesses): The characters are poorly developed, and the dialogue is clunky.
• Directing & Filmmaking (Weaknesses): The direction is uninspired, and the cinematography is lackluster. The editing is jarring, and the sound design is ineffective.
• Enjoyment & Engagement (Negatives): The film's predictability and lack of originality made it hard to stay engaged.
The Verdict
The Disappointments Room is a disappointing horror film that fails to deliver a compelling story or effective scares. With its predictable plot and poorly developed characters, it's a skippable film. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for a good horror movie.
Additional Categories
• Genre & Tone: The film struggles to maintain a consistent tone, veering between horror and melodrama.
• Target Audience: The film fails to cater to its intended audience of horror fans.
• Originality & Innovation: The film's storytelling and filmmaking are unoriginal and lack innovation.

The Disappointments Room
I’d say this is a slow burner, but not much happens even after a bit of a build up. It’s an odd story in general, but very boring compared to what it could have been. The Disappointments Room was a disappointing film unfortunately.
