The Deer Hunter
One of the hardest Best Pics to watch. Painfully realistic i. Its portrayal of PTSD and the effects of a foreign war on small town America. Absolute master classes in acting from DeNiro, Streep, and Walken.

The Deer Hunter
A devastating masterpiece examining PTSD; it’s filled with masterclass performances from everyone in it. This is one of those films were I found myself glued in my seat, watching all of the credits as I was sorting through all my feelings. That’s how powerful it is.

Despite its faults, The Deer Hunter is a formidable work which asks a great deal of its audience. The graphic brutality of the Vietnam scenes are devastatingly rendered, and it is a pulverizing experience.

The Deer Hunter
- The Russian roulette scenes were some of the most craziest scenes to witness
- The foreshadowing from Angela spilling her drink to Steven returning from Vietnam without legs is insane 💀💀

The Deer Hunter
One of the greatest and most emotional movies of all time. The acting is incredible especially from Christopher Walken. This film shows the meaninglessness of war and the terrible effects of PTSD. While it’s not historically accurate, this is a must watch.

The Deer Hunter
A literal masterpiece. You could see every characters current thoughts and feelings at any time. It’s Michael’s story, but I loved how every character had their own story in relation to the rest of the film. An absolute wonder in all forms.

I’m having trouble figuring out whether I “liked “ this movie or “loved” it. Mainly because it was a great movie, but super depressing. It didn’t necessarily have that happy ending that you get in most endings.

i finally got around to watching this movie, and it definitely isn’t a movie you just turn on. it’s a hard watch, you need to be patient, and if you are it pays off so well. it’s grueling, yet beautiful. it’s so emotional and the acting is just insane. 10/10

The Deer Hunter
This movie did not need to be 3 hours. So boring. Unless you love catholic weddings (which is half the movie). Weird pacing with long dragging conversations and short bursts of irrelevant action. Overall disappointed.

The scenes at home are the most naturalist and real I've ever scene in a movie, but that makes the scenes in Vietnam seem unrealistic in comparison. it takes you out of the film. has a lot to say but those themes are held back by a more over the top approach to the war itself.

Best Picture Oscar winner 1979 (51st Academy Awards)
My Rating: 9/10
Nominated for 9 Oscar’s and won 5. This movie has stuck with me. One of the best films ever made, hands down. Culturally significant and the acting is top notch. How can you forget the Russian roulette scene?
