The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It

8.2/10 extremely impressed by the acting and story. Horror movies don’t usually do it for me but honestly one of the better horrors I’ve seen. Somewhat believable storyline. Would definitely recommend with Halloween coming

It’s an adequate horror movie with the requisite atmospheric and jump-scares, and it provides Conjuring fans with their fix. However, as the latest chapter of what is now a trilogy, it’s a disappointment.

This was the film that originally got me into this franchise, and comparing it to the first and second, you see the stark similarities and differences. The story follows another "true" story. Ed and Lorraine gain some depth, and the performances all around are great. As for the directing, it's hard to compare with James Wan, as the setting is much larger and the stakes have more of an impact. I prefer the hectic side of this, although with that comes its generic qualities. I wish they leaned more into the religion-to-law side of things. Overall, I rate it on par with 1 and 2 for nearly all the same reasons.
