I can’t imagine understanding the full meaning behind this movie without the internet at my fingertips lol. Ahead of its time and I bet it flew over a lot of people’s heads when it came out in 96

Loved the cast but David Cross and Bob Odenkirk carried

A slight departure from other Carrey comedies of the era, this movie is definitely different. For me though, the comedy elements juxtaposed with the dramatic themes detracted a bit of the weight from both. Still very good, but it ain’t Ace Ventura or the Truman Show

Jim Carrey brings a really crazy performance that balances weird, frightening and wholesome pretty well. Jack Black is a great addition and Matthew Broderick plays a perfect straight man to balance the comedy. 6.5/10

It scared the shit out of me, didn’t make me laugh at all ahahah
Amazing acting by Jim Carrey, actually I’m in the middle between a “meh” and a “like”.
But how tf did Steven come out of prison? Can someone please explain? What did I miss? Thank you
