8.4 - cusp ❤️, but there’s just a little something missing. I had a great time, but I am openly a sucker for a lot of “dad/dude” movies, melodrama, & midwestern culture. The entire core cast is incredible. Jodie Comer is finally getting her coming out party, Tom Hardy is great as always, & I finally fully understand the Austin Butler hype in its entirety. I do think the story, as emotional as it is, could have dug deeper. The themes of family, brotherhood, & sacrifice are only scratched compared to the depth these characters could have been studied. I’m not bothered by the pacing, it really just feels like we’re slowly turning through the lives of these people. If you’re hoping for high-octane, non-stop, greasy bike culture you may be disappointed, but I don’t think that was ever the goal. Will be an easy future rewatch.

The Bikeriders had definitely more potential than what actually came out, but this isn’t anybody’s fault, there is no blame on the actors, director and screenplay writer. The problem with bikeriders is that it is limited because A. It’s an actual real story and B. It’s a real story from a book; that limits the movie in so many ways. Everything of this movie was good, the cinematography was really nice even though the lighting in the scene where hardy asks butler for the first time to be the leader (weird lighting), the characters were awesome, and the action was well delivered. I also found this movie to be fun, the character dynamics are awesome, it’s like everyone is brothers, which I guess is the point of outcasts coming together and forming a biking club but yeah, must be noticed. The ending to me is very significant, my friend was upset they didn’t go for the knives and the kid straight up shot Hardy, yes, a knife fight would’ve been cool but the symbolism of hardy dying by a pistol is deep, the club has changed and with those changes a new leader that plays dirty but is also not as fearless as the oldies. Like I said, this movie is heavily limited because it’s a book, it’s not a bad movie at all but it’s not great. 7/10

Only Jeff Nichols could adapt a book as archaic as this. The cast holds so much presence. I could feel Norman before seeing him, and Jodie Comer? Simply put, she's already won my Oscar. I waited 11 months to feel the 'freedom' captured in the cinematography and score. The humour/escalation/exposition should be a lesson to Hollywood. It wants you to question people, replace the surprisingly not overbearing bikes and it's the same story. It ended as abruptly as how they describe the end of the bikers 'golden age'. The style/production transported me, but I don't think I'm ready for that ride.

The Bikeriders is a stylish 60s biker drama about loyalty and a club slowly losing control. Gritty vibe, strong acting, and a cool retro look

First heard about this movie because I’m a big fan of Austin Butler, so of course I had to see it in theatres. I ended up really loving it, the acting and dialogue. The cinematography of the whole thing was excellent as well it really did feel as if I stepped into the 60s/70s. I went just to see Austin Butler on the big screen again and ended up loving a movie I didn’t expect to so I think that’s a win.

This was an interesting story but I think there would’ve been a bigger emotional payoff near the end if the story had been told in a different way with more focus on the perspective of the Vandals which I think also would’ve helped hit the theme and message a little harder

There must be something about Jeff Nichols direction that gives me a warm feeling in my chest because this is my favorite film of the year. Beautiful acting, clever writing, picturesque cinematography, all the above! I will be rewatching this countless times.

There’s a great story hidden in here but I feel the main character of Kathy was the wrong the choice. Jodie Comer is incredible in the role, but in making her the main character, we lose so much insight into Johnny and the difficult decisions he had to make in the evolution of the motorcycle club.
