Terminator Salvation Reviews

Terminator Salvation leaves me thinking it’s a rock solid post-apocalyptic action picture that bends over backwards to make itself fit to a pre-existing mythology. But for once I found myself hankering for Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Snooze fest

Not a fan

You know what? It's not as bad as they say it is. I give it to the crew for taking such a drastic step into new territory. The normal attack/defence time-travelling formula had been more than washed out by T3, and the apocalypse was all that had been teased since T1, so it was about time. The only real criticism I understand is the lack of depth and generic feel. Otherwise, great casting, acting, practicals, story, sound design, and visuals. In many ways, this franchise is similar to Alien. The first sets the groundbreaking bar, the second hits the peak, and anything after is a risk, which to me is always worth taking. Whether it hits an all-time low or an impressive high, as a true fan, I'll always want more, within its limits, of course.

7/10 great additions to the franchise, enjoyed plot and delivery by all. If putting this in order from good to bad would name this 2nd beside the original Terminator. Give it a go.

I threw this on because today is in-universe Judgement Day, so I had to do a thematic rewatch. I honestly like this gritty take; it brings a cool war-torn vibe despite a super messy story.

What Worked:
• Bale and Worthington bring intense energy that fits the bleak future perfectly.
• McG’s practical effects and real sets make the robot fights feel super tactile.
• The Moto-Terminators’ sound and visuals give them a terrifying, raw edge.

The Friction:
• The Skynet base infiltration really dragged for me and felt way too rushed.
• Connor’s arc felt flat; I honestly just wanted more of his internal struggles.
• The CGI Arnold cameo completely pulled me out of it and looked super jarring.

Verdict:
Watch for a heavy, practical-effects-driven action flick. Skip if you prefer classic time-travel tropes or a deep story.

It was alright

Watched in theaters as a teen loved it then, love it now. This terminator is good and aged well, the cast camaraderie drives it and the advances in cgi, practical fix & terminator models makes it great. Unfortunately it loses itself a little in pacing and conclusion Behind scenes

I prefer this over T3, but honestly, I still believe they should've stopped at T2. Some cool action scenes, nothing memorable. I'll probably stop with this franchise here, but we'll see.

This is one of those movies - Hard to love. Yes, it doesn't sit easily in the timeline for those die hard fans - however - the cast did an amazing job, some real tear jeepers moments and connection. sadly, Christian Bale didn't really land it with his portrayal of John Conner.

Enjoyed this one a lot more than I thought I would.

literally could only watch 40mins of this and had to stop it. nothing like the other terminators i feel like it barely fits in

if we count it as a spinoff, it's really breathtaking and well-made. Sam Worthington and Christian bale were really suited for these roles.

For brief moments, Salvation becomes the future-war movie fans imagined for years. That ending almost redeems the film, even if the journey there is mostly meh. The Marcus hybrid concept is genuinely interesting, adding moral tension to the human-machine divide.

6/10 For sure a step down from the first 3, wasn’t convinced with the character recasts and was missing Arnold. But still enjoyed the film
