This world exists with two types of people. People who can’t stand this movie, and Liars!

There is no way you watch this in the 2020’s and think this is good. Just because it’s a “classic” and other people tell you need to like it, doesn’t mean you need to like it. Y’all are sheep

Joker definitely took A LOT of inspiration from this. It was an okay film; definitely a hot take. The storyline between Travis and Betsy went nowhere; I didn’t care for it. It jumps storylines a bunch. Trying to kill the president, why? A 2 hour film that could have been shorter.

I think this is pretty objectively a good movie, but a lot of it just didn’t work for me. To start with the good, I think Robert De Niro was fantastic in this role. He plays this character so well, and you completely buy into the mentality and emotions of this complex character. Everything from a technical standpoint was really great as well - the lighting, coloring, and cinematography all worked extremely well, which should be expected from a Martin Scorsese movie. And, beyond Martin Scorsese, I think all the characters were super interesting and portrayed really well.
The main thing that really didn’t work for me was the plot. Honestly, this movie didn’t have much of a plot at all. And, before I say another word, I completely understand the message that the movie is trying to get across, and I think it was perfectly effective at doing that. That’s why I still like the movie, and do not fault it as heavily as I would for other, less effective movies. There was a very clear vision that was handily achieved, and I totally respect that. The commentary on society’s treatment of mental illness and lone wolves is smart, important, well-handled, and relevant today.
However, this just wasn’t a satisfying plot for me. Random things were just kind of happening, and there was no clear throughline in terms of story. Travis didn’t really end up in the place that I expected, and it didn’t feel like the ending was particularly earned from a storytelling perspective. While this is INTENTIONAL, I found it unsatisfying and found that it created a flawed viewing experience. When the end credits started rolling, I was pretty bemused about how it turned out.
It also does a pretty bad job of paying off the tension set up throughout the movie - it never feels like the movie ever really takes you anywhere.
And, in terms of music, I think my friend said it best - “we should all be very thankful for John Williams that we don’t have to listen to movies like this anymore.” The ONE song in this movie (exaggeration, but not by much) is okay the first time, but a bit tiring by the seventh or eighth time.

A pretty good movie, but a movie with no flaws doesn’t mean it’s great. A movie that is great deeply affects me after watching it. But this movie has no major flaws except the lackluster plot. Probably has a lot of hidden meanings that I didn’t pick up. But a very good film. 8/10

It’s a freaking classic !! Martin Scorsese directed it back in 76 and Robert De Niro plays the lead character Travis Bickle a lonely taxi driver who’s a little bit off his rocker. He’s becomes obsessed with rescuing a young prostitute played by Jodie foster from her grimy life. X

Taxi Driver is one of the few films I would refer to as a masterpiece, every time I watch this movie I'm immediately sucked into it by its soundtrack alone. And the ambiguity of the ending always leaves me thinking about this movie for days after. 10/10

I wanted to really like this movie because Robert De Niro is a fucking G. But the movie sorely lacked connection with the characters, to make their reasoning for their actions understandable. He had no back story to explain his plot and no personality either. Unfortunately a pass

Okropnie się dłuży i monotonny soundtrack. Przez cały film z 2 główne mało istotne wątki. Strata czasu nie wiem skąd ten hype. Miałem ochotę przerwać w połowie ale dałem szansę, która poszła w pizdę

The cinematography is cool here and there’s some cool vintage moments that can be seen as iconic. But overall, it just feels like the movie itself didn’t really do anything for me. The plot was scattered and I wouldn’t say it stands the rest of time for enjoyability.
