Student Of The Year
Rating: 6.1/10 ⭐️
I expected a lighthearted coming-of-age flick, but it honestly felt like a massive commercial for arrogant rich kids behaving badly.
What Worked:
It looks super expensive, more like a luxury fashion shoot than a campus. Through my traditional lens, I appreciated the message that chasing worldly trophies isn't worth destroying friendships. The leads bring decent emotional weight to their eventual reconciliation, and the soundtrack is a major highlight.
The Cuts:
With so much superficial drama and messy love triangles, the middle part really dragged for me. The casual flirting, arrogance, and backstabbing were super off-putting, making it hard to find a strong moral center. The script is incredibly shallow, treating the campus like a rigged, toxic reality TV show rather than a place to find purpose.
Verdict:
A superficial teen drama that takes way too long to land a decent message about brotherhood.
Favorite Line: “The entire concept of the Student of the Year competition has always been rigged.”
