This is Hitchcock's specialty right here when a murder is involved haha. It's a familiar concept, but this is where most thrillers borrow from. The performances keep you on your toes, and those shots of Bruno in the distance are actually menacing. Carousel is the best scene!

truly excellent, i was genuinely creeped out by bruno! i did think that barbara was the senator’s wife for the majority of the timm though 9/10

It wasn’t that bad but, it dragged out too long. Why was there an entire tennis match?!

Watched it today at an old fashioned theater with my friend. The movie was great!!

Suspenseful and well done.

2024 Rewatch: Remains a solid, though not standout, Hitchcock entry with good photogrpahy and tension. Does a great job making Bruno a constant looming presence.

But why’d we have to sit through 83 years of tennis?

Fantastic Hitchcock thriller which showcases his broad talents since it’s so different to some of his other films. Fantastic performances and an even better script. Marvellous direction and some of the nicest camerawork I’ve seen from a 50s film. Unconventional and brilliant

Good Hitchcock film with a sort of unique and engaging story with some very compelling performances.

Such an engaging film, the story is well thought out and keeps you in true suspense!

This could’ve been a short film bc honestly the premise is wobbly…and the police work shoddy as hell. “He says he didn’t do it…you heard him.” White male crustiness in the 50s. Helluva drug. Also: Bruno Anthony. Lolz.

Average new york subway encounter

The casually creepy tone they accomplished was impressive. I’m starting to understand that Hitchcock’s suspense lies less in a cliffhanger-y sense, and more in a “I have all the pieces, but how will they fit together?” sense. Enjoyable, but not very rewatchable

Hitchcock goes big on this well played thriller. From the tennis match, to the storm grate, to the merry-go-round. Well paced.
