Finally, an alien visitor that doesn’t want to destroy us, screw us or make us codependent and/or really terminally Ill (looking at you, E.T) He’s just here for the vibes.

Going through Carpenter's filmography I expected this to be one that dragged, but I was VERY wrong. This will easily be in the top 10, maybe even crack my top 5. A simple little roadtrip with our two leads, with whom you care and understand why Karen Allen's character's grief eventually drives her for a second chance to be with her husband after a tragedy.

A special film to me as a kid in the 80s, and so much fun to revisit as an adult all these years later.

While Carpenter is synonymous with the horror genre he’s made some great forays out of it: this is an example of one. An exploration of grief and letting go. There’s a human side to this film which his other works lack. Jeff Bridges and Karen Allen are great.

One of John Carpenter’s best films and one of the best science fiction movies ever made. The acting and story are so well done. I loved this one.

I’m an 80’s kid and a huge Jeff Bridges fan. Yet somehow I’d never seen this flick. It’s definitely 80’s, but I liked it.
