patience is rewarded with this one. the atmosphere was great and the movie never fell into the “mentally ill people are violent” trope

It’s slow. Very slow. I don’t get it being on peoples most frightening movie list unless the ending really hits you hard. Few if any scares throughout. That being said I really enjoyed it. Very good cast and plot. Ending was rough. Suspected things. Not what you expect totally. 👍

I think if I had seen this when it came out, it would have scared the shit out of me and blown me away. However, over 20 years later, most of it doesn’t hit in the same way. That being said, there are still a couple of scenes that spooked me and I did think it was a really interesting story. A slow burn for sure but one that I wasn’t distracted at all during.

This was such a fun watch. It’d been years since I’d seen it, so it was like watching for the first time. Loved the haunted elements, and im such a sucker for movies set in historic buildings/asylums so it was perfect for me :)

4/10 god damn this was slow. I am on a bad streak now picking slow fucking films. Another film where next to nothing happeneds for the first hour and a bit.

Absolutely terrifying

Low-budget for sure, but I've seen much worse. Not as scary as I would have hoped, but it had some disturbing moments. Mostly, I just wish they had done a bit more with the asylum setting. Feels like there was a lot of missed potential that could have made it great.

It was confusing. I disliked almost every character in some way.

The shots were confusing sometimes and didn’t help the narrative, I think.

Overall, a confusing story with a good twist. But not rememberable.
