an inspiration for one of my favorite movies; possibly bergman’s slowest and most present film, and not without absolutely perfect performances from the two leads. wonderfully precise writing and framing, definitely depressing but not without its moments of pure joy and truth

Another film I can add to the list of reasons never to get married! Similar to "Marriage Story," except something felt different, like it was more realistic. Maybe that's just Bergman's directing. Both leads were excellent, but Liv Ullmann has become one of my favorite actresses. I hoped the ending would be different since it's so depressing, but you get what you get.
