Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark Reviews

Grew up loving the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark books and this movie represented some of top stories from them really well ☺️ Hope they do more parts!

I FUCKING LOVE THIS MOVIE. i never get bored. the story, the ghost, the scene are all amazing. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND

I’m literally in LOVEEE with this move oh my fuck. The story line, the acting, the scenes, just everything in general is so fucking good

pas aimé du tout… et pas suivi aussi

Idk, it started out good, went to slowly worsen itself, I think most of the designs of the monsters were pretty cool but obviously that won’t do it all.

Really wasn’t a fan of the ending.

1/10

Rated: 7.3/10

Terrified by the book’s art as a kid, I had to see these monsters on screen. I love this; it nails that creepy gateway-horror vibe while tying urban legends into one story.

The Director's Eye (What Worked):
• The creature designs rule, relying heavily on practical effects over CGI.
• The haunted book targeting their specific fears perfectly connects the anthology.
• The 1968 draft setting adds heavy, real-world dread.

The Friction (What Didn't Click for Me):
• The bully subplot feels cartoonish, like an old Goosebumps episode.
• A few monster encounters end abruptly right as tension peaks.

The Verdict:
I love it. Watch for nostalgic scares. Skip if you want hardcore gore.

5/5. I enjoyed this, it was well thought out and honestly it just hooks you. Very different

it was okay

Better than I expected.

Actually pretty good for being pg13

i loved the movie a lot, proves you don’t need instence gore to make a good movie.

I really want more of this movie

4.9 - I HATED this on the 1st watch. I was way too harsh. I had too much nostalgia for the books. Visuals are mostly good, the kids’ acting is solid despite bad dialogue, & there’s a strong connecting thread behind it all. It’s a good intro/teen horror & that’s all it needs to be

This movie is just plain awful. Main character is annoying, hell every character is! No one is likeable in any sense and I was actually rooting on them to die. One good thing I liked was that SOME scenes looked genuinely scary, would i recommend? Definitely not

Very scary for me!! Almost didn’t make it to the end lol

Basically just an installment of Goosebumps. Would’ve scared me as a kid but I was bored. Definitely some good ideas but executed poorly, in my opinion.

Expectations were high, and it failed. Trying to weave individual, classic horror tales into one plot line was the biggest mistake. If made as an anthology it likely would have succeeded. Effects were good, but performance and script failed. Disappointing.

This movie was absolute shit. It’s not scary, it’s not suspenseful, it’s not thrilling. It’s boring. Just boring. The characters aren’t even likable.

It’s ok, definitely worth a 1st watch. Not much interest rewatching though
