Visually stunning, but the story was a bit lacking. Felt like it was trying to do way too much in a shorter amount of time. Def still worth watching

Odd mix of influences. Hamlet, Berserk, Avengers Infinity War, Dante’s Inferno, and Violet Evergarden? I think?

Extensive moralizing schmaltz at the end.
Also, there’s a time-traveling musical dance break at the midpoint. So many disconnects.

animation varies, some super beautiful scenes followed by a still 10 sec shot of an empty landscape. story feels clunky at times, and the characters don’t really feel real at first. otherwise, it was a fun watch and i will emphasize that for the most part animation was cool 👍

Looking for epic Action RPG combat vibes. Expected a standard Hamlet retelling, but the gorgeous animation and unique underworld totally hooked me.

What Worked:
• Hosoda’s digital blend gives the underworld an aesthetic that totally pops.
• Intense combat, especially when that massive dragon unleashes lightning.
• Erin Yvette’s voice acting honestly carries the heavy themes of grief and forgiveness.

The Friction:
• Wandering the Infinite Land really dragged the pacing in the middle.
• The connection with Hijiri felt rushed, leaving him feeling like a convenient plot device.
• The heavy philosophical dialogue honestly pulled me out of the action vibe.

Verdict:
Watch for a stunning twist on a classic tragedy. Skip if heavy dialogue or slow pacing bores you.

Honestly a visually gorgeous movie like oh my god. Buttttt kind of hard to follow with the weird stuff they say. Left some things really ambiguous and also I really didn’t like the ending. I can’t believe after everything Scarlet saw in the dead world she believed that peace was achievable? Maybe I’m just AOT pilled.

I liked the juxtaposition between the 2D representing life and 3D in death, but I with they would’ve actually stuck with it. The dancing scene was weird as hell. The dragon representing the wrath of god was really cool… don’t know why it turned into birds?? Overall okay but wouldn’t watch again.
