Samrat Prithviraj

Rating: 5.1/10 ⭐️

I wanted to love this historical epic about defending the homeland, but it felt like a rushed, soulless history textbook despite the massive budget.

The Director’s Eye:
The production design is massive—palaces and armies look expensive. As a patriot, I respected the themes of Dharma and defending one's culture against invasion. The code of honor resonated with my values. Sonu Sood (as Chand Bardai) carries the emotional weight that the lead lacked, backed by a decent, adrenaline-pumping score.

The Cuts:
Akshay Kumar is totally miscast; he lacks the regal aura of a warrior king and seems to be sleepwalking through the role. The CGI—especially the lion fight—looks like a 2010 video game. The dialogue is preachy, and the romance has zero chemistry.

Verdict:
It has the right patriotic spirit but clumsy execution. Too polished and lacks the grit of a real war movie.

Favorite Line: "A life lived for Dharma is the only life worth living."
