Resident Evil: Afterlife

Like all the others, this movie is on fire. But I didn't likte the fact that now Alice is a normal human and has lost all her powers. Chris and Claire are fantastic; I really liked the scenes where they were together.

Resident Evil: Afterlife

Resident Evil: Afterlife (5.2/10) is a hyper-stylized and narratively hollow exercise in 3D spectacle that prioritizes slick visuals and slow-motion action over plot, character, and suspense. The film delivers some striking imagery designed for 3D but feels like a soulless and incoherent entry in the franchise.

Milla Jovovich shines as Alice, but the characters outside of her are one-dimensional archetypes. The plot is incoherent and paper-thin, with narrative logic and character motivations often nonsensical. The film's over-reliance on slow-motion drains the action scenes of tension and impact.

While the film's visuals are polished, the relentless focus on style over substance makes for a hollow and often boring viewing experience. The lack of a coherent story or developed characters makes it impossible to become invested in the stakes. Overall, Resident Evil: Afterlife is a visually glossy but narratively bankrupt film.
