6/10
Relay is a solid, modern thriller with a cool idea and good tension. Riz Ahmed carries the movie with a calm, smart performance. The story keeps you interested, but the ending doesn’t fully hit.

Concept was brilliant. Execution was lackluster. Everything felt so drawn out. Acting was pretty mid. The plot twist was good but not enough to save it and came in way too late. Felt kinda cheated out of two hours.

A little formulaic but a well executed corporate crime thriller. Really like Ahmed since The Night Of - worth a watch!

This was easily one of my most anticipated films of the year. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the expectations. I'd have given it a solid 7 if it hadn't cheated me out about 3/4 of the way into the runtime. I see the realistic takes, but I also see a huge amount of wasted potential, especially with a cast as charismatic as this. Otherwise, it was an 'alright' film. Great soundtrack, decent pacing, intriguing script, and brilliant performances. Although I was expecting more of a 70s-style retro production, since that's what the promotion was promising.

The only note I’ll give is for Lily James because why did they make her character so dumb 😭

Lily James needs a new agent, I swear she plays the same ditsy character in most of her roles

Aside from a rushed and tone ruining final act, this was a solid surveillance thriller á la The Conversation in a corpo world. Riz Ahmed delivers an almost mute performance with smooth operator ease.

This was fine. It’s a serviceable, by the books, nostalgic narrative that harps back to old noir cinema, unfortunately it misses the mark on all of the charisma required to nail that genre. Every character here is a bit too awkward, even the big names looked out of place at times, coupled with not only a lack of chemistry but a complete lack of shared screentime made this a disjointed narrative, if the strength was the individual experiences they failed to make those interesting. For how surface level this seemed, it ultimately remained intriguing at most, kept my attention til the end and left me mostly satisfied, it’s just fine. 3/5
