Between love, like and meh. But I’m not sure why, as this movie is perfect imo. It didn’t hit me as hard as Ikiru did, for example, but it didn’t need to. The characters, stories and messages were all superb.

Red beard is a top 10 character. Another huge win by Kurosowa.

yet another akira kurosawa masterpiece that doesn’t miss a single beat. the cinematography is absolutely impeccable, the acting is phenomenal, and the story is utterly beautiful and heart wrenching. what an absolutely amazing film.

My favorite Kurosawa film so far. This legitimately blew me away.
