Hitchcock hits a stride a little late. Too long. If I was the Mrs, I’d have thrown hands at Danvers. Glad Favell caught one on the chin.

My Rating: 7/10
Nominated for 11 Oscar’s and won 2. Is it my favorite Hitchcock film? No. But seeing as this was his first American film, it’s still really good. Psychological thriller was invented because of Hitchcock and it has all those things.

Great to revisit Hitchcock. Intoxicating story w/ unsettling undertone, twists & turns, and the usual Hitchcock delights: suspense, subtle humor, quirky side characters. Olivier & Fontaine are fantastic, and the cinematography/lighting is gorgeous. Ending is only half-satisfying.

My least favorite from Hitchcock, but it's still an amazing film. It just goes to show how great of a director he was. The reveal wasn't as great as his other films, but I did love the gothic nature of this.

Going into this film but I was pleasantly surprised the story from the description was completely different. What I thought it was gonna be so it was actually quite to watch was amazing here. I love the whole. The whole thing is great. I would recommend that you watch it.

One of the best suspense films of all time. Hitchcock directs it masterfully with some amazing cinematography. There are so many gothic elements in this one and I love it. Joan Fontaine and Laurence Olivier are great in the lead roles. Highly recommend this one.

The happy ending felt a little rushed but the plot twist went hard so it’s okay.

I might get some hate for this, but I don’t think this holds up. About 1.5 hours in it was interesting but it had no payoff. The direction it goes for the last 45 minutes fails to match any of the previous themes of the film. The protagonist had no role in the plot.
