Great music, of course. The music performance scenes make the film good. The other stuff meh.

prince just isn't a good actor. and it's not because he can't act, it's because he's prince. that's just him on screen even though he's supposed to be "the kid"

which also means it makes perfect sense that the scenes where he performs are electric and honest to god perfection.

Just listen to the album. This is a long music video with bad acting.

Prince delivers great acting, and, of course, great musical ability. Both his and Morris and The Time’s songs are catchy, and the rivalry between the two is always fun to watch.
