Porco Rosso

I really didn’t like this movie. Ofc it’s ghibli so it has great animating but even if it’s because of the year it’s based on/made on. It was very sexist and clear to see on that. Porco rosso is a playboy. It’s understandable why he got cursed to be a pig. As he acts like one

Pretty kickass movie. I hated the fact that the ending felt rushed, but aside from that it was a damn near perfect movie. I want a sequel

Porco Rosso is a tricky one, while it’s a very good, nice and quick feel good movie, it doesn’t really bring much to the table in terms of long term remembrance, I won’t look back much or even out of my way recommended, but I will say this, it’s still a damn good movie.

The tone is perfectly set, and the ending while could have been improved was still great and made the whole thing worthwhile, though like 15 minutes before the end it just got really depressing and metaphorical for like 2 minutes straight.

All the while I did end up enjoying this more than I thought I would, which is always a pleasant surprise, but yeah all the jokes still slap and it’s a comfort watch in the making.

Plot 8.5/10 (weird but somewhat works)

Acting 9/10 (great but only cause ghibli bought off all the A-List actors at the time)

Cinematography 9/10 (one scene is amazing, the rest is just standard)

Character Development 8.6/10 (some but not enough)

Writing 9.2/10 (the depressing scene is the highlight)

Ending 8.5/10 (standard ending)

Direction 9.3/10 (was like a maze trying to figure out what was gonna happen next)

Overall 8.8/10
