I expected a standard anime movie for Pokémon Day, but was completely blown away by its epic, apocalyptic scale.

The Director’s Eye:
Alamos Town is beautifully based on Barcelona. Studying how they framed these massive European structures gave me fantastic visual inspiration for capturing the essence of Europe in my upcoming project. As a man of faith, I loved the redemptive core. Darkrai, a misunderstood nightmare creature, sacrifices himself to protect a town that hates him, proving character is defined by actions. Using the soothing lullaby “Orácion” to quell two brawling deities is a powerful, poetic climax.

The Cuts:
The snobby comic relief completely bogs things down. His transformation into a Lickilicky felt totally out of place during an apocalypse. Also, the early-2000s CGI spatial rifts look incredibly dated against the gorgeous hand-painted backgrounds.

Verdict:
A visually stunning adventure with a strong message of selfless sacrifice.

Favorite Line: “Orácion...a song with the power to soothe the fiercest rage.”

Going around and giving 👍 to the Pokemon movies that were my favorites (top 5 or so) as a kid. I double they'd hold up much as an adult.

First off as the star of the movie, Darkrai got clapped. Two god Pokémon should have decimated that city immediately. You can make a drinking game when u watch this and drink everytime someone says Darkai. Only Pokémon I watched as a kid. It’s decent 6.4/10

Honestly, I don’t remember anything about it meaning it’s very unmemorable, so besides Deoxy’s movie this is the worst Pokémon movie ever

I loved this movie as a kid, this movie had one of the coolest climaxes of any Pokémon movie for me. This movie also featured in my opinion the coolest generation of Pokémon
