Pokémon: Giratina and the Sky Warrior
Rated: 6.7/10 ⭐️
I expected a standard Darkrai sequel, but the distorted Reverse World's ambitious scale really caught me off guard.
The Director’s Eye:
Yuyama’s Norwegian glaciers contrast beautifully against the toxic Reverse World. Framing these European landscapes gave me fantastic visual inspiration. Through a faith-based lens, the film champions stewardship and the sanctity of life. The villain plays God to sacrifice Giratina, countered by Shaymin's wholesome message about gratitude and family. Hearing classic Godzilla roars from Giratina also adds massive cinematic weight!
The Cuts:
Shaymin is super arrogant early on; the complaining really dragged for me. Plus, the clunky early-2000s CGI ship sticks out like a sore thumb against the gorgeous 2D backgrounds.
Verdict:
An ambitious adventure with a great moral core. A solid, wholesome family watch.
Favorite Line: “I want to express my gratitude.”

Going around and giving 👍 to the Pokemon movies that were my favorites (top 5 or so) as a kid. I double they'd hold up much as an adult.
