For some reason, this hit so much harder on this viewing. The philosophical narration is poignant and hardly ever cheesy, the acting is fantastic (from a surprisingly stacked cast), and the use of Adagio on Strings is still very moving!

a surprisingly enjoyable war film that sets a standard for narratives with such powerful inner conflicts that test duties and morality. willem dafoe and charlie sheen excel among climactic and explosive scenes and gruesome portrayals of combat. quite epic
