Pinocchio: Unstrung Reviews

Rated: 6.3/10

Taking a breather from setting up October streams, I threw this on to see if the TCU made a decent movie. I like this; practical puppetry and Brake give this slasher enough charm to beat its budget limits.

The Director's Eye (What Worked):
• A practical animatronic Pinocchio makes his clunky movements unsettling.
• Brake brings grandfatherly warmth before flipping into obsessive madness.
• Englund’s Cricket lends a sinister psychosis guiding the puppet.

The Friction (What Didn't Click for Me):
• The tired bully subplot drags the pacing before the rampage begins.
• Forced universe cameos distract from the core basement dynamic.

The Verdict:
I like it. Watch for practical gore. Skip if forced cameos annoy you.

For an indie movie, the special effects were impressive, and I loved the behind the scenes footage during the credits. The cameos to set up the TCU are cool too (the doctor was Christopher Robin)! Unfortunately, the story fell short - why did Geppetto suddenly turn on the kids?

funky

Vibesss

2/10 - Comically bad. The kind of bad where a body double doll clearly gets thrown at a wall

Genuinely a good horror movie. The kills were brutal as fuck and it kind of reminds me of Terrifier. The pool scene was the most disturbing thing i've seen this year, and i actually almost pulled a Dudley and threw up. The jokes always seemed to land as well

This was super gory lol. More unhinged than I expected.

Pinocchio and Cricket were funny asf 😂
5/5.5

Never in my life would I have thought I’d see Pinocchio safe bump someone.

Robert englund and Richard brake are far too good to be in a movie like this.

Also Richard give me doomhead vibes at the end.

2/10 ⭐

Cool filmmaking wise but boring, predictable and somewhat cringe story wise.

this was one very very very odd film ! super fun and gory tho! really apprecite the art and crafting behind it all the bts credits made me like it even more

Ok

This movie was crazy Pinocchio was tearing people up literally, kinda graphic if your squeamish.

un fantasy horror, da serata senza pensieri.....

Oh my god what was this film. Genuinely what the FUCK

the movies good by the beginning but to the end it was weird

lowkey bad but good and funny? 😭

😳 my gosh it’s like watching kermit the frog kill, my favorite part is the cricket and I would rewatch but I don’t think it’s a good movie💀😂

more a comedy than anything and a bad one at that. only got a meh instead of dislike bc i was laughing the whole movie ( more because of the absurdity of it all but still) just don't even bother sitting down to watch this.

A twisted Horror fairytale that frequently branches off into awkward laughs and is as predictable as it is disgustingly gory and cruel.
