What in the actual fuck was that?
Uhhhhh, I can either tell you it was pure art and give it 5 stars and be all”ooo LoOk aT Me iM A CiNEpHile” but I’m not gonna pretend I understood a single thing from whatever the fuck that was.
Let’s see what did I actually get, well the soundtrack is amazing but the whole movie is the soundtrack of The Wall so idk what else I was expecting, it was incredibly well shot and it blended animation with live action so seamlessly it felt like it was alive and real.
But as much as I can appreciate the art and symbolism behind the whole concept and execution, I’m not gonna sit here and say I got any of it, cause I didn’t, the amount of google searches I had to do throughout was one too many, not saying I didn’t appreciate it, like the whole mask bit being about a loss of individualism, thought that was pretty fuckin cool.
This is a movie for the people who either stan Pink Floyd and get every reference like it’s a fucking marvel movie, or its for the pretentious cinephiles who want to sound like they know what they’re talking about, I am neither, so this review could not be anymore genuine.
Plot 9/10 (for whatever the fuck actually happened)
Soundtrack/Score N/A (amazing but since it’s just a whole ass album I’ll come back and give it the rating when I’ve done it on its own)
Cinematography 9.3/10 (some really good shots but overall animation carries)
Character development 6/10 (everyone in this is named pinks relative of some kind, there is no characters other than Pink and even he’s dull)
Writing ?/10 (idk i didn’t fucking get most of it)
Ending 8.5/10 (the set up for the end was better than the end, cause the ending kinda fell flat)
Direction 10/10 (the only thing I fully understood was the sense of direction, and my god was the direction good)
Overall 8.7/10

Very good film. If you are a Pink Floyd fan, this is the movie for you. It is also a very abstract movie that uses a lot of visuals to grab the attention of the viewer. Much like the album, this movie is definitely a slap in the face to the government. Epic movie.

A stunning adaptation of one of my favorite albums of all time. The portrayal of isolation and its effects on the psyche are beautifully portrayed with visuals that perfectly enhance the original music. Geldof plays Pink great but I don’t like his singing much at all
