this movie is so sad and makes you think about your own mortality, it’s kinda scary at certain parts too, i also really appreciated how all the sensitive deaths were (mostly) off-screen, i didn’t appreciate the whole "indian burial ground" thing though, that didn’t age well

Before the film, I read a book and this was probably the second book where I cried. It’s sad and scary probably close to the end(at least for me).
I liked the movie, but it doesn't have the same feeling as if you read the book, therefore 7/10.
I advise everyone to read the book.

I’m not sure if this was the worst or best movie to watch after nearly having a panic attack about death, but it is so insanely perfectly grim. There’s just something about the true classics that have this air to them. Pure quality. This was so gut-wrenching through and through.

This movie takes what could be a simple premise and intertwines themes of guilt, denial, and apathy incredibly. On top of that the acting is great (it’s amazing that they found a kid actor that could pull off Gage) and there are several actually good jump scares

Jesus Christ this was bad. The film is filled with terrible writing and the acting from Midkiff and Crosby make me want to gouge my eyeballs out. The child fight at the end may be the dumbest and most dated thing I've ever seen in a film. 3/10

This was my first time watching this. I thought the way they tackled guilt, loss, and denial was very well handled and a hard watch at times. I loved the acting; it's quite charming at times. There aren't many jumpscares, but the scares did get me when they happened. 8.2/10

It took me a long time to watch this Stephen King classic. A great thriller and horror and just the right blend of mystery

Definitely a cult classic, pretty good, major downside is that the main characters’ actor is a DRAG the movie is about grief which by the way is very well done, but it’s not that he is dealing with grief, he just made some BAD acting choices. Fred Gwynne is lovely

i grew up watching this—it's eerie, unsettling, and laced with slow-building dread that only an '80s horror can bring to life. it's not only scary—it's tragic and upsetting. the concept of grief and loss is haunting, and it brings mortality into perspective.
