Great movie about chess

Whoever cast Tobey in this nailed it because he plays an amazing buggy eyed paranoid dude. The movie was shot and acted very well but at the end of the day it’s a chess movie… not much more

I have just recently watched Marty Supreme, which I felt was similar in terms of peoples obsession to their craft with an objectively “boring” sport. However, Maguire’s sensational portrayal of a spiralling mental health was a pleasure to watch.

Chess is so cool.

Good performances and they did a good job with establishing how things work in the world of chess

Hard to name the shortcomings but I expected a little bit more. I wasn’t really engaged and it was a bit of a chore to get through. It’s hard capture the essence of Bobby Fischer when you’re constrained to 120 mins.

Incredible film. It builds paranoia, but the story is amazing. Obviously it really makes you want to play chess.

The start of the movie was very slow and absolutely boring to watch, with no events and lazy storytelling. To the point where I wasn't interested in continuing the film. However, the final scene of the match with Spassky was fabulous and very exciting showing the beauty of chess.

I love chess so I’m biased, but I think it’s an awesome movie in and of itself

6.2/10 wasn’t directed very well kinda skipped around and had weird editing

Idk shit about playing chess but I think Bobby Fischer was unlikeable in this portrayal. Believe this was done on purpose. Spassky seemed like a cool guy.

I wish more people could enjoy this masterpiece and realise how freakin good Bobby Fischer was, basically one of the best ever to play chess. well made movie and almost accurately portrayed his life. 7/10
