Even though I can just edit reviews I feel that this film can get its own spotlighted review revamp. Bear with me:
I watched this film a few years ago based solely on the audio effects used in the trailer. Weeks prior, a friend and I had watched a trailer for (what I think was) Kong, wich featured some portions of music overlayed over reloading, gunfire, and animal running noises. The concept of musical/dramatic pauses synced up with the trailer was so cool to us that we went down this rabbit hole of satisfying trailers that achieved the same principles well. Finding the overlord trailer was like a goldmine. I don’t think we even looked into the premise. I believe the technique is called Mickey-Mousing, and as stupid as it might have been, the “hits” of it in trailers completely dictated what movies we binged and anticipated. Even the shitty ones were good if the overlay was brilliant. Lucky for us- the film was great as well. The body horror wasn’t all over the place but whenever it was on screen it didn’t disappoint. While it’s not the most complex film ever, the premise was straightforward and interesting the whole way through. If you’ve made it this far and are still searching for a push, I really do recommend it if you’re not put off by wartime adjacent films. Stunning visuals, great attention to detail and wonderful cast. I hate how the word “badass” sounds as a descriptor but i feel like if i was a southern father with a motorcycle that’s what id probably say.

8/10. Not usually a fan of war movies, but the film had me hooked from the opening scene. The scene where the main character discovered the ‘experiments’ was fantastic, loved the effects and the effed up designs of what had happened to these people

One of my favorite war movies and one of my favorite zombie movies... in one. Some of the most incredible sound and great horror suspense and action throughout. Opening scene is jaw dropping.

this movie could have been elite, but what messed it up is that it had great start, but then it shifted to very slow paced throughout the movie until the end where every excitement and entertainment was included so in conclusion it’s “Aight” don’t watch this with “expectations”
